Grad school is weird. Research just seems so pointless, yet I have become obsessed. Will this solvent work or will it just coordinate to the metal? Will I be able to add copper to this ligand? Will any of this matter in 20 years?
In order to preserve my sanity I have found it best to talk about the ridiculousness that is being a chemistry graduate student. So, this is another outlet.
On this blog there may be occasional rantings about inept labmates, ridiculous students in classes I teach, pretentious peers, my boss's strange antics, or just my feelings in general.

Hi Rene!
ReplyDeleteDon't think I've seen you since high school, but you seem to be doing well. As a failed chemist who still likes to indulge in its nerdiness, I'm curious. What are you studying? I worked at Augustana College on some big macrocycles and more memorably enjoyed a slew of acid burns, glass cuts, and lachrymation.
